Located at the city-side corner of the majestic Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, the design substitutes the developer’s standard layout with a more dramatic and appropriate interior that responds to the scale of the views, character of the wharf building and sophisticated interior requirements of the client.
The design consolidates the service rooms into a compact core, freeing the perimeter as a sequence of living spaces. The three bedrooms, which form part of this generous space, can each be divided for privacy by concealed sliding walls. The strong timber beams of the original wharf structure where also uncovered, giving a memorable robustness and authenticity to the interior.
Particular attention and care was taken with the joinery design. This provides extensive storage, in beautifully finished cabinets faced in Australian hardwood, colour-backed glass, and colour-matched polyurethane.
The apartment interior has been published in the book Apartment Living – Australian Style, and featured in Vogue Living.
